Nicole Jennifer Enns

What inspires you?

I am deeply inspired by nature and being a woman, I feel like both are significantly related to each other. Becoming a mother really put me in touch with my own natural instincts and seeing and embracing my femininity as a gift to the world.

Why do you love yoga?

I love Yoga because it bridges all parts of ourselves; mind, body, spirit, emotions…. everything gets addressed even if you just come for the stretching and movement, you will still receive all of the many benefits.  It is also so useful not only when you are on your mat but even more so, when you step off and into your day.

What is alive for you right now?

Bringing women together and holding space for healing, growth and celebration really fuels me and gives me purpose. I also really love astrology and lunar cycles and have been enjoying adding ritual to my life. Ritual is an act of doing something in full awareness and wholeheartedness, so cooking or eating can be a ritual, as well as, self-care practices like preparing a bath with oils and salts. Ritual makes very normal daily activities more mindful and meaningful.

What are you listening to right now, music or podcasts?

Right now I am listening to a podcast called ‘Tarot for the wild soul’. You don’t need to know much about tarot to enjoy it or understand it.

Where’s your favorite place in the world to be?

My favorite place in the world to be is anywhere outdoors. Traveling or close to home, I love to be in nature, at the beach, in the mountains or forest.

What are your top hobbies?

Yoga obviously and I love caring for plants, gardening, fooding (is that a word?), thrifting, reading, visiting with a friend over tea.

If you could pass along a little wisdom what would it be?

Be kind…. especially to yourself

What’s your favorite meal?

I love to eat simple fresh food, roasted squash, sweet potatoes, coconut everything and anything … I eat a plant based, gluten free diet as I struggle with Hashimotos (an autoimmune thyroid condition) and manage it mostly with diet.

What’s your favorite book and why?

The book ‘Women who run with the wolves’ was pretty life changing and anything from Victoria Erickson, who is known for her nature inspired quotes and poetry.

When you’re not working/teaching in the studio, where can you be found?

Once upon a time I was an interior designer, I worked mostly in commercial visual presentation. Now…since parenthood takes up most of my time, I’ve been known to style people’s homes, spaces & events from time to time and my love for thrifting, vintage and treasure hunting has given me a very eclectic reputation.

How did you find yoga?

I began a meditation practice over 10 years ago when it was first introduced to me, which naturally transitioned into a yoga practice when I became pregnant with my first child and prompted me to attend a teacher training.

What is your favourite thing about being a part of the Studio B Team?

I love the warmth of the community at Studio B: the teachers, support staff, & students have all made me feel so welcomed, not only to the studio but also as a new member of the Chilliwack community.
